Research & Development
Primary Research

An online survey was conducted as the primary research approach, and the survey form was shared to people from different countries through social media in order to acquire a variety of different data. The questions were focused in four categories, which are national flag, religion, festival, and tradition. In this survey, respondents are required to share and explain the meaning of each colour in their countries. The respondents came from a variety of countries, such as the United Kingdom, United States, Jordan, Philippines, Kenya, South Korea, Maldives, and Malaysia.
Secondary Research

The data collected from participants are fairly limited. Hence, secondary research was conducted as it could provide more extensive and diverse samples than we could gather ourselves, as well as a broader perspective on the topic. More data and information were collected through Internet.

Organise all the information and make connections.

[Cards]
Visual References

The cards are designed with the combination of text and illustrations. The Illustrations are simple and minimalist in style.

Process
Here is my initial try; it needs redesigning to make colour the primary focal point instead of countries.

The final design following changes. The cards are designed based on colour, and they provide the meaning of each colour in different countries.

My idea is that back of the cards will be different pieces of the map, so when audiences arrange all the cards together, they can see a full illustrated map and the connections between the colours and countries.

Final design:

The final version rearranged the colours of the countries on the map to more closely resemble their flags and connected the countries.

The packaging was designed to be opened flat to give an unboxing experience. The instructions will be written on the box.

The initial design is not so visually attractive:

Printing & Cutting

Several problems were encountered because this was my first time printing, the size of packaging kept being off, and it took several attempts to get the proper size.
