DIVERSITY- Celebrating Malaysian Culture

Malaysia, a country with a distinctive population made up of people from different racial and religious backgrounds. A lot of time, when introducing Malaysia, people will usually say that Malaysia is made up of the three main races and "lain-lain". The “lain- lain” are frequently ignored, neglected and abandoned by people. Hence, this project decided to focus on the topic of embracing and celebrating Malaysia's diversity, aa well as showcasing the uniqueness, colours, and characteristics of each ethnic group, in order to show the public that Malaysia is more diverse than just Chinese, Indian, and Malay; we also have Iban, Kadazan Dusun, Bidayuh, Murut, and other ethnic groups.

This poster was intended to convey the message that even though we share various cultural traditions, but when we come together, we can blend in seamlessly, as we are all Malaysians. The patterns and colours of traditional costumes from different ethnic groups were explored in this project; each pattern represents a ethnic group.

Other than poster, a series of postcards that incorporate patterns into illustrations of several Malaysian traditional games and musical instruments was created.
